Our Mission

Trinity Child Care and Learning Center was established in 1987 as a mission of Trinity Lutheran Church. This mission is to provide a loving, stimulating, nurturing, Christian environment that fosters the children’s social, emotional, and early learning development. In addition, we provide an environment that helps the whole family feel secure and comfortable while their child is under our care.

Enrollment

Trinity Child Care and Learning Center accepts all children regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, political persuasion or special needs, from ages six weeks through ten years. Part-time enrollees will be accepted to the extent that corresponding vacancies exist in the Center. The Center is open year round, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Our Staff

Our caring, nurturing, responsible staff meets the state licensing requirements regarding educational background. All staff members participate in continuing education in the form of workshops and seminars. Staff members also take special classes to develop their expertise in all areas of child development, child guidance, appropriate curriculum development and presentation for young children.

Infant/Toddler Program

Each child is assigned a “primary caregiver”. The “primary caregiver” communicates daily (verbally or written) with the parent about their infant’s goals, nutrition, changes in behavior, achievements and milestones in the infant’s development. Nurturing the infant throughout the day with individual physical contact and attention, such as being, held, rocked, read to, and sung to, will promote trust and attachment between the infant and the caregiver, resulting in parent and caregiver trust. With both infants and toddlers, individual lesson plans incorporate goals in each developmental area: cognitive language, social, emotional, large and small motor skills. Learning and growth opportunities are provided through daily sensory, language, music, large and small motor activities. Consistent routines relating to activities such as playing, eating, napping and diapering are used as optimum occasions for learning experiences. Toddlers also develop self-help skills, self-esteem and self-awareness. Appropriate outdoor activities, weather permitting, are provided daily in the infant/toddler play yard as well as outdoor walks in the neighborhood.

Pre-School Program

Trinity Child Care and Learning Center’s curriculum is based on the developmentally appropriate practices for children ages three to five set forth by National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation’s largest professional organization of early childhood educators, and the Wisconsin Model for Early Learning Standards.
The children have the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage and enhance each child’s health and physical, social and emotional, language and communication, problem solving, cognitive and general knowledge development.

Four Year Old Kindergarten Program

Trinity Child Care and Learning Center is a designated Stevens Point Area Public School District Four Year Old Kindergarten site. This play-based program is designed to provide four year old children with the opportunity to experience and practice the social, emotional, language, cognitive, and large and small muscle skills that it takes to successfully transition into kindergarten with a good sense of self-esteem, and enables them to learn more challenging concepts with enthusiasm and self- confidence. The Four Year Old Kindergarten program is taught by a Department of Public Instruction licensed teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Trinity Adventures Program

Trinity Adventures is a fun-filled summer program with many exciting activities for school-aged children between the ages of 5 and 10, or who have completed 4K. Trinity Adventures will include field trips, daily exploring, science, kids in the kitchen days, sports, swimming and so much more!

Parent Involvement

Parents are always welcome and encouraged to stop in the Center any time they wish. There are many opportunities for parents to become actively involved in our program such as having lunch with their child, joining in field trips, being a member of our Learning Center Committee as a church representative or a parent advisor, sharing a talent, or just stopping in to say “Hi.”

Nutrition Program

Meal times are an important part of our daily program. Each day the children are served a nutritious breakfast, hot lunch, and an afternoon snack. Meals are served family style. The staff encourages good eating habits in a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. Parents are encouraged to join their children for lunch. Mothers are welcome to nurse their infants in a private room.
